Mise en scène is a french term often used in describing aspects of a film or theatrical production, such as the visual arts of story boarding and stage design, and poetic arts of direction.
Meaning, literally, “put in the scene,” it has a broader meaning and refers to almost everything that goes into the composition of the shot, uncluding the composition itself, camera movements, characters, framing and lighting.
